The first flag raised at the new La Valle Town Hall flew over an American base in Iraq in the summer of 2009. Sgt Paul Vaillancourt, who served at the base as part of the 2009 deployment of the Wisconsin National Guard, arranged to have the flag sent from Iraq to La Valle to honor all who serve in the armed forces. Pictured are members of the La Valle American Legion raising the flag and Paul's mom, Beverly Vaillancourt, presenting the Certificate of Authenticity to town chair Cal Brey. The flag and certificate can be seen at the town hall.
