LaValle Town/Village Fire Committee Minutes
November 10, 2011
1. Meeting: was called to order at 7:00pm by President Jim Lucht. Roll call was taken.
2. ROLL CALL: Jim Lucht-present; Jim Brandt-present; Chuck Holton-absent; Jim Mercier-present; Craig Perkins-present, Linda Champagne-present, Chief Marin Milewski-present.
3. AGENDA: was read and approved. A motion was made by Jim Brandt seconded by Craig Perkins to approve the minutes. All aye. Motion carried
4. MINUTES: A motion was made by Jim Mercier seconded by Jim Brandt to approve the October minutes. All aye. Motion carried.
5. PAYMENT OF BILLS: Bills were presented to the committee by Chief Milewski for the month of November. Motion was made by Jim Brandt seconded by Craig Perkins to pay check #4866-#4911 totaling $32,122.94 All aye. Motion carried
Motion was made by Craig Perkins seconded by Jim Mercier to deposit $32,000.00 into the checking account according to the present split. All aye. Motion Carried

Motion was made by Jim Mercier seconded by Jim Brandt to approve the Financial Statement. All aye. Motion Carried.
6. DISCUSS AND POSSIBLE PURCHSE OF 2 ˝ INCH FIRE HOSE. Chief Milewski advised the committee that to purchase new fire hose it would cost $138.00 for a 50 ft length. If the fire department were to purchase blemished hose, the cost would come down to $107.00 per 50ft length. Motion was made by Linda Champagne seconded by Jim Mercier to purchase 20, 50foot lengths for a total cost of $2,140.00. All aye. Motion carried.
7. DISCUSS AND POSSIBLE PURCHASE OF PORTABLE/MOBILE RADIOS: Motion was made by Jim Mercier seconded by Jim Brandt to purchase 4 new portable radios for a total cost of $2,735.00. All aye. Motion carried.
8. SEAL COATING THE FIRE DEPARTMENT PARKING LOT: no new information.
9. DISCUSS FIRE DEPARTMENT BUDGET: Fire Committee would like to see Chief Milewski prioritize what things will need to be purchased in 2012. A motion was made by Jim Brandt seconded by Jim Mercier to increase the fire department budget by 9% for a total dollar increase of $8550.00.

10. CONTRACTS: will be sent out to the Towns of Summit and Seven Mile Creek and Village of Ironton.
11. TRASH FROM EVENTS: The Township would like to be notified before the fire department brings out a large amount of trash. If the Town is given a heads up, it will allow the dump employees time to make room for the extra amount. With the new system the compactors can be emptied and ready for a large amount of trash.
12. FIRE CHIEF REPORT: The LaValle Fire Department has applied for a FEMA grant to purchase new personal protective equipment. There will be a MABAS meeting at the LaValle Fire Department November 16th at 7:00pm. The fire department is still waiting for the results of the tender shuttle drill. LaValle Fire Department worked with members of the Wonewoc and Union Center fire departments on a live fire training drill. New Sno-Blox have been installed on the roof of the fire station. Henke Signs will be giving an estimate of replacing or repairing the sign out front of the station. Jim Lucht has contacted the Town of Summit Chair about not receiving full payment from the Issac Rowe fire. The LaValle First Responders will be implementing a mandatory reporting system to the WARDS system beginning January 1, 2012. The LaValle Fire Department appreciation dinner will be held January 14, 2012. During Fire Prevention week over 200 children visited the LaValle Fire Department.
